Day Twenty-Seven

A short one.

Continued Black Boy with my juniors.  To help the story come alive, I played Wu-Tang great, Ghost Face Killah's "All that I got is You" which contains a sample from the film, The Education of Sonny Carson.

In the clip, Sonny is locked up in juvie for a petty crime when he meets Smokey.

Here's the excerpt:

Smokey - What they give you, blood?
Sonny - Three months, man.
Smokey - Whatchu' doin' in here anway? You oughta' be home with your momma. How old are you, boy?
Sonny - Thirteen.
Smokey - Thirteen? Damn, the bastards must be runnin' outa niggaz to arrest.

So that's that, but apparently I misspelled Carson, writing Carlson. Here's what happened...

INT. CLASSROOM - MORNING

Student - You wrote Carlson.

Caught, the Teacher smiles.

Class (collectively) - Ooooooohhhhhh.

Teacher - Not ooooohhh. Wu.

A bunch of Knuckleheads throw up the Wu-Tang Clan W and the Class LAUGHS!

END SCENE

And that in a nutshell is why I still like teaching.

Signing off.
